To Re-Open or Not - That is the Question
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Thursday Feb 18, 2021
Welcome to this episode of Community Matters podcast, where we discuss issues important to managing and governing condos, cooperatives and homeowner associations.
A year in to the Coronavirus pandemic, and there is a light, however dim, at the end of the tunnel. Vaccines are rolling out and ramping up and case counts are, at the moment, dropping dramatically in the United States. Does this mean it is now ok for community associations to re-open the clubhouse and the fitness center and other common areas? Or is the risk still too great to effectively manage?
We'll ask today's guests these very questions. Taking their turn at the Community Matters microphone today are Jon Katz, Esq., president of CAI's Pennsylvania & Delaware Valley Chapter Board of Directors, and George Greatrex, Esq., Chair of the CAI New Jersey Legislative Action Committee. Both Jon and George are attorneys with Hill Wallack.

Welcome to this edition of Community Matters podcast, where we discuss issues important to managing and governing condos, cooperatives and homeowner associations.
One of the biggest expenses that can face any community association is the maintenance and upkeep of asphalt roads and parking lots. A community with miles of roads can literally spend tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars on maintaining these roadways. My guest for today’s podcast, Paul Gates, is with Asphaltech Pavement Solutions. Paul is an expert on these issues and will help explain the bidding process, costs and other factors necessary to the proper maintenance of your asphalt.

Thursday Jan 07, 2021
Thursday Jan 07, 2021
Welcome to this edition of Community Matters podcast, where we discuss issues important to managing and governing condos, cooperatives and homeowner associations.
CAI often gets questions from community association managers and homeowner leaders on the topic of service and support animals. These questions range from what the difference is between a service animal and a support animal, the state and federal laws that apply, and how to evaluate what may constitute a reasonable accommodation request for a service or support animal.
We’ll discuss these questions and more with Jeffrey Brenner, Esq., a community association attorney with chapter Platinum Sponsor Marcus & Hoffman, located in Media, PA.

Today’s episode is part three in a mini-series of episodes focused on our business partner members and how they are marketing themselves in the new, virtual world we’ve all existed in since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. We’ll be talking with various business partner members about best practices for marketing in a virtual world, how to make the best of virtual events and how to make connections and new contacts without the in-person networking events that we were so dependent on in the time known as BC – before covid. These are important questions to think about since we are a relationship driven industry. The natural challenges of meeting new people is exacerbated by the challenges of 2020.
